Cook County Participates in CNT Urban Sustainability Apps Competition

Cook County Website

On June 6, CNT  hosted its annual urban sustainability apps competition. The Competition’s goal is to foster the development of apps which make neighborhoods smarter, greener and more affordable. At this three-day event eight teams of community activists and app developers work together to build tools that create a more environmentally and economically sustainable Chicago.

This year’s winner, Team Purshable, built an app that builds demand for close-to-expiration food that grocery stores would normally throw away. The app markets the food to low-income and environmentally conscious consumers with the added benefit of providing additional revenue to the grocers.
