Equity Express

Equity Express is designed to help low-income households learn how to save money by going green.

Our Equity Express program offers concrete money saving tips and promotes a general understanding of important topics like financial planning, energy, transportation, food, telecommunication, and recycling. Each lesson begins with explanations of these important concepts, followed by connections to individual health and environmental quality, and finished with a toolbox and action plan.

Equity Express aims to inspire conversations about green living, rather than simply giving instructions. To that end, our lessons are designed to facilitate discussion, with open-ended questions and opportunities to “Pair and Share.” This is a reflection of our overarching goal to build capacity for change within the community. We choose to train trainers, rather than conducting the workshops ourselves, since we believe that these conversations are most effective between peers learning together. We seek to empower community organizations to lead these workshops in order to not only reach their constituencies, but also to inspire conversations about fitting green principles into entirely different missions.
