Certification Review

Every three years the Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration conduct a three day review of CATS. The “Federal Certification Review” determines whether an MPO is eligible to continue receiving federal funds.

Certification reviews were held for CATS in 1999 and 2002.

In 1999, CATS was given a “conditional certification” for environmental justice omissions. This meant that if CATS did not begin to address environmental justice issues our region could have lost federal funds.

In 2002, CATS was certified and given a list of recommendations. The recommendations will be available online soon.
