Planning and Public Involvement

The Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the six-county region of Northeastern Illinois. They are responsible for transportation planning and the allocation of federal funds. It is essential that there are local groups involved, such as Walkers Win! so that area residents' voices can be heard during project planning stages. For the past several years, CNT has occupied seats on several CATS task forces, which are at least fifty percent implementors. We currently have seats on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Issues Task Force (Schedule and Agenda) and the Bicycle and Pedestrian 2030 Steering Committee (Soles and Spokes).
