On June 17, CNT and CDOT co-hosted the workshop, “Sustainable Streets in Chicagoland: Multi-Modal, Multi-functional (and totally fabulous)”, for practitioners interested in learning how Chicago is designing, constructing and maintaining sustainable transportation infrastructure.

Using the Cermak/Blue Island Sustainable Streetscape as a case study, participants learned how Chicago is working to integrate sustainable design within public infrastructure. Expert practitioners from the City of Chicago and beyond discussed barriers and opportunities for integrated design in the areas of emerging technology, urban-oriented design, and Midwest specific solutions.
