Reflecting on 2016
In 2016, the CNT Young Innovators based their year of programming around the Rockefeller Foundation's City Resilience Framework, a tool developed by Arup to help facilitate the conversation about cities' resilience needs, opportunities, and solutions.
The City Resilient series had four parts, each of which represented an essential dimension of the Framework:
- Health & Wellbeing: panel discussion at the Illinois Medical District on the role of medical districts in creating and maintaining healthy, resilient cities
- Infrastructure & Environment: panel alongside YPT-Chicago exploring the CREATE Program and what it means to have a resilient passenger and freight rail network in the Midwest region
- Economy & Society: guided tour of The Plant, a closed-loop urban farm in Back of the Yards
- Leadership & Strategy: interactive panel/charrette on fostering integrated planning of cities with CNT’s very own Scott Bernstein and Erin Grossi
We also hosted a number of social and networking events around the resilience conversation in Chicago and across the United States.
The group’s momentum is sure to continue throughout 2017, and we’re looking forward to setting plans into motion. Check back often and subscribe to our email list on this page!
