CNT and IB Environmental will discuss our new Affordability Action Planning Guide, which includes an interactive tool and worksheets to support residents and advocacy groups as they work to understand water and community affordability challenges and develop strategies to implement community-wide affordability programs.
The cost of water is on the rise due to decades of disinvestment in our community water supply, stormwater, and wastewater infrastructure systems, resulting in water unaffordability challenges in many communities. However, water bills are not the only factor driving community unaffordability. Households pay for energy bills, groceries, health care, housing, childcare, transportation, and other necessities. As water infrastructure investment needs continue to rise, it is necessary to look at all aspects of a community’s cost of living to help households reach economic stability.
CNT's Jen McGraw and Anna Wolf and IB Environmental's Stacey Isaac Berahzer will discuss this new resource and then invite attendees to participate in a discussion about the state of water and community affordability.
